POMMES views architecture as an inseparable element of a shared and interconnected planet. In the face of the crisis, preservation alone is not enough. Our practice and collective are committed to actively participating in rethinking the built environment, going beyond the concept of mere protection. Each of our projects is conceived as a tangible initiative for positive change—offering strategies that not only propose solutions but also enable their direct implementation.
Our portfolio encompasses a wide range of projects, from residential buildings to unique and specialized structures. Wherever possible, we focus on preserving and repurposing existing buildings, adapting them to meet the evolving needs of contemporary life with flexibility and foresight.
In architecture, images are a powerful tool for communication, capable of shaping public discourse and influencing the acceptance of projects. In today’s fast-paced, image-dominated digital world, we see great potential to use visual media to bring architectural ideas to a broader audience. The rapid development of AI-driven tools for image creation underscores the need to critically engage with these technologies—understanding and refining their use as valuable instruments in the design process.
We frequently collaborate with partner firms to create architectural visualizations and remain open to forming new partnerships in this area.
At POMMES, research is a platform for documenting and sharing explorations in architecture, machine learning, and sustainable, environmentally conscious design and construction. Guided by the principles of open-source collaboration, we publish our findings to spark new ideas, encourage interdisciplinary partnerships, and provide transparent access to our methods and references.
Our teaching engagements at TU Braunschweig (Institut für Entwerfen und Baugestaltung, Prof. Dan Schürch) and TU Darmstadt (Fachgebiet Entwerfen und Nachhaltiges Bauen, Prof. Christoph Kuhn) keep us at the forefront of experimental developments in architecture. Working closely with students through seminars, design projects, and excursions, we collaboratively develop innovative responses to the urgent challenges of our time.
